October Monthly Meeting Notes

Once again we had a good attendance at the social. Partitioning the hall seems to create a better atmosphere. 40 members spent a few hours chatting away to each other.

Ann Mc Donald baked a delicious halloween brack for members to have with their regular cuppa. Needless to say it didn’t last too long, Stephen had to ration it out so everyone got a piece…….talk about the loaves and fishes !

Michael from the RNLI, last year's club charity brought along a box of 200 year anniversary badges for the members. He also informed us the invitation is there if any members want to do a visit to their facilities in Dun Laoghaire.

Chris Hill introduced Lar Burke to the club. Ann mcDonnald introduced Charlie Dolan. Charlie is a long time member of our sister club….the BMW owners club. Dee brought along Berna Breen who has just got back into biking. She rides a Royal Enfield. In conversation with her she was telling me that when she lived in New York she belonged to a motorcycle club. One of the members in that club was none other than Tom Christie…..brother of the man himself…Gerry. She recalled coming over in the early 90s to participate in a riders Rally, what a coincidence , it's a small world.

Conor Gill gave an up date on the Bake Off in Glendalough , over 20 taking part this year.

Dee mentioned if any of the Arts & Culture members fancied a trip to Belfast on the train to do a spot of Christmas shopping in November she would arrange it.

Tom Murray had a large collection of DVD’s on display. They were free for any member who wanted them. All in good nick I might add. He said a donation to the club charity was optional.

Dee then gave a broad outline of a proposed trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains, USA in 2026. Hiring Harleys with the option to hire vintage cars. More details will be out soon. There has been an exceptional interest in this trip.

This year's annual club will be in northern Spain.

Unfortunately I had a senior moment and forgot to bring the name tags plus the charity box, so no donations this month, sorry about that.

Jim.
