Club social report........Tuesday 25th.March 2025

There was the usual good turnout at the social. Plenty of chat about upcoming events. There is certainly plenty of motorcycle activity to keep members happy.

There is a group heading off to Scotland this weekend to the Cranog rally. More are heading south to the iconic Shamrock Rally. Some members who also belong to the BMW club are going to Valentia Island for the w/e. We are spoiled for choice.

We had a visit from Ross Dicker who came along to see what the club was about. Ross is the grandson of Desmond Dicker who was a club member back in the 70’s. Ross did a world tour on a Vespa scooter and he has agreed to give a talk at one of our socials on his experiences, along with a slide show with the assistance of Paul Dixon.

There were a few “Freebies” for members. Ear plugs, courtesy of Paul Dixon..... Calendars with Castles of Ireland courtesy of Columba Farrell.....A small GoPro type camera courtesy of Chris Hill for anyone who might find use for it. A donation for the club charity on this was optional. Wooden key rings were available to purchase at €5.00 which goes towards the club charity.

Paul Dixon was on hand to assist those with GPS queries......he was a busy man. On the night charity donations amounted to €125.55

Andy Deane came up from Cork. Andy’s wife Deirdre, who has not been well for some time, has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone. These are difficult times for both of them and we assured Andy that we all care about them.

Notices........

Members were reminded that a renewal form must be filled in each year for club records.

Membership number is now at 185.

Ber Kenny who could not attend will be available at the next social to discuss and explain any queries members may have re the new Whatsapp groups. Ber has taken club communications to another level. The committee is keen to ensure all members know what's happening in the club.

John Dunne is keeping the web site up to date and will be changing the “Password” for the members only section. Members will be

informed soon.

Next club event will be the camping trip to Adare on the 11/13th. April.

The April run will be on Sunday 20th. [ Easter ] which has been organised by Bryan Joyce and Glen Horan. We will be having lunch in Carrick on Shannon. Details on website, Calendar of Events.

May and June are available if any member would like to arrange a run.

The closing date for the “Mystery 500 “ is the end of the month. If you plan on going please get your application form in soon, who knows you might be one of the 3 lucky winners .

Simon Porter recommended checking out “Just Cover” for travel insurance.

At the A&C visit to the Battle of the Boyne site there was a misunderstanding between Stephen Whelan and myself which was explained . Because we could not access the house the guide did not charge us the usual fee. The money was collected [ €113.30] and it was agreed to put it into the charity fund.

Thanks to all who attended , it was a very sociable evening. Until the next time......stay safe.

Jim.
