August Meeting Notes

If you are reading this it’s thanks to John Dunne [ Treasurer ] who has set up this New Website . It is an improvement on the old site and a lot easier to navigate. It is a work in progress and will improve as we move into the future.

The Committee who were elected by you, the members, are aware that communication is a vital part of a successful organisation.

The location of Shankill tennis club is not ideally located for everyone so the purpose of this report is for the benefit of those who can't attend. Although having said that members travel from Wexford, Cork, Kilkenny, Kildare and Meath to enjoy tea, coffee, biscuits / cake and the usual craic, and all free.

Close on 40 members attended last night's social including one potential member.

NOTICES……

1. Gerry, Cushy and John Kane were thanked for organizing the run in memory of deceased members. If any member would like to organize one of our monthly runs , please contact a committee member and you will get all the support needed.

2. Jane Cronin was thanked for organizing the August ‘ Arts & Culture’ visit to Kilmainham Jail. The A&C was set up during the Covid lockdown by Conor Gill and because of its popularity among some long-time members it is a great social event for those who no longer ride bikes. Jane would welcome any suggestions from members for places to visit. They are normally held mid week and monthly.

3. Members who are participating in the club Photo Event were reminded to submit their photos by 30th. September either by email, stick or album to Andy Deane. Awards for this event will be presented at the Way West Rally in November.

4. There will be no monthly run in September due to holidays.

5. Members were reminded not to leave their W/W booking on the long finger as rooms are booking up fast. The quota for single rooms are almost full.

6. The charity donations amounted to 18 euro.

7.Last of all, we wish those members traveling to France next Wednesday on the third official club holiday to have a safe and pleasant journey and we look forward to seeing their photos. Thanks to Dee McGinn and Paul Dixon for organizing this trip.

Jim.
