It was a typical November day, dull and chilly with low lying grey clouds as 18 riders left the Spawell s/s on the last monthly run of the year. Once we left Tallaght there was not much traffic.
The N81 is a good biking road with a great selection of twisties and fast flowing bends which can be enjoyed at this time of year when there is no low lying sun in your eyes as you ride south. We are almost at the end of the beautiful autumn golden colours, another night or two of strong winds and the trees will be bare again until next spring time.
The roads were damp with occasional deposits of mud on some sections , but nothing to distract an observant motorcyclist.
The group stopped in Tullow where we were joined by Dennis Molumby and Frank Murphy before heading to Bunclody golf course for lunch. At this beautiful location Stephen Whelan was there to greet us, followed by Teddy and Dee.
We all enjoyed good food at reasonable prices with plenty of conversations about the upcoming USA trip and the Christmas Cook Off in Glendalough.
Most of the group traveled back via Tinahely, Aughrim, Woodenbridge, Rathdrum while parting ways at Laragh with some going over the Gap while others headed for the N11.
Thanks to all who attended and hope you all arrived home safely. Thanks also to the new King of the Kilometers ……Andrew Kennedy who patiently performed his back marker duties.
Jim.
