As a lot of you already know the DMTC organises an annual run in memory of deceased members. This year,2024, was dedicated to the memory of our good friend Laurence (Larnie) Boland. Laurence handed over the Treasurer's role to John Dunne after he received his terminal illness diagnosis but continued to contribute greatly to club matters right up to the end. The large attendance on the run was testimony of his popularity.
The run was organised by Aidan (Cushy) and Gerry Kane. It was their first time to organise a run and they did themselves proud. Laurence's son Jake was at the start to see us off.
The route and pace was great with the customary stop at Tullow where more members joined the group. We arrived on schedule at Courtown Golf Club where Laurence's wife Jackie and family joined us.
More members joined us in Courtown and the GC had arranged a reserved parking area for all. Before lunch Jackie was presented with a memorial wooden plaque made by John Kane, brother of Cushy and Gerry.
The run was well organised and a fitting tribute to a thorough gentleman.
Jim
