The autumn leaves are a beautiful sight this time of year, but to us motorcyclists they can be treacherous when wet. So it was decided to take the N & R roads to Coollatin golf club, avoiding the narrower tree lined ones.
Storm Ashley was forecasted which left members with the dilemma......do I go by bike or car.....or don’t go at all. Members are meant to enjoy these occasions not endure them. We are all mature experienced riders, we’ve been there, done that, worn the T shirt, we’ve nothing to prove......safety is paramount !
Having said that, 13 riders and 1 pillion ventured out for today's run. We took the N11 to Rathnew, then on to Rathdrum, Aughrim,Tinahely, Shillelagh and Coolatin. The golf course was closed and other than one couple we were the only ones in the restaurant. Service and food are always top class at this venue.
We avoided the rain, it was only on our return trip that the wind gathered pace and kept us all on our toes.
The competition for “King of the Kilometers” finishes now so anyone taking part please send me a photo of your bike's mileage. I need to get the winner's name on the trophy to present it at the Way West Rally in November.
All arrived home safe and well.
Jim.
